Megan Larson 2012 Hunter Safety Student with her first deer

What a super surprise.
One of our hunter safety students had the surprise of his life when told that he had won an all expenses paid hunting trip to Canada with his Hunter Safety instructor. Jarid Hoyt, 16 years old, of Sanford was selected from those students who had taken the course on the Internet. His Hunter Safety Instructor for the live fire part of the class, Ms. Marilyn Garrison, also got to go on the hunt in Saskatchewan.
This was the first “Jim Shockey Dream Hunt” to be offered to the Michigan Hunter Safety Program. Jarid took a 100 yard shot and got a very nice 13 point non-typical buck that weighed about 250 lbs. His instructor/coach, Marilyn, bagged a 10 point buck. The meat from these two deer was given to the local Indians. The antlers cape, and skulls were shipped back to Michigan to be mounted.
Congratulations to Jared Hoyt and Marilyn Garrison on a very successful hunt.
