We offer firearm safety and personal protection training in the following disciplines:

1. NRA Basic Pistol
2. NRA Personal Protection (qualifies for the Michigan CCW law)                
3. NRA Refuse To Be a Victim  
4. Personal Protection Refresher Course
5. Hunter Safety Course
6. Refresher Course

Personal Protection:  The course goal is to develop the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for protection of self and family, and to provide information on the law abiding citizens right to self defense. This is the course required for Michigan's CCW license. Total of eight hours will be held over two days. Cost will be $120.00.

Topics will include:

• Introduction to defensive shooting
• Safe gun handling
• Basic defensive handgun skills
• Firearms and the law
• Use of deadly force
• Selecting the right firearm and ammunition  
• Strategies for home safety and responding to a violent confrontation
• Sport shooting activities and training opportunities

Provided materials:

• NRA Personal Protection Handbook
• Gun Safety Rules brochure
• Certificate of Completion (upon meeting all course requirements)

You will need:

•   A handgun (any model other than a single action revolver)
•   At least 50 rounds of ammunition for that particular gun
•   Eye and ear protection
•   If you do not have your own gun, one can be provided for you to use
  

Personal Protection Refresher Course: 

Michigan law requires that at each CPL renewal the licensee will need to certify that he or she has completed a 3 hour refresher course within six months prior to the expiration date of the applicants CPL. This course will meet that criteria and will consist of a review of the law that will bring the student up to date with any recent changes in the law. 

Concealed Pistol License Course  (CCW)
As of October 1, 2004 this course complies with section 5j of 1927 PA 372
Course also complies with 2000 PA 381. Section (5) j 1 as amended by 2002 Pa. 719

3 Hour  –  Refresher Course – $40.00
For those with a Michigan CPL (CCW) that is about to expire. Basic training in personal protection, gun selection, ammunition, hands on shooting, state laws concerning guns. For information please call 989-631-1191 or E-mail MLShafer@charter.net

April 12-13, 2012; May 10-11, 2012; May 31-June 1, 2012; July 12-13, 2012; August 9-10, 2012; September 6-7, 2012
6:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.; Both evenings

CCW classes must have a minimum of 10 students and will be held at the Bay County Conservation and Gun Club, 860 N. Rogers Road, Linwood, MI

2012  Hunter Safety Classes
Students must attend all 12 hours of a selected session
March 23, 24, 25; September 21, 22, 23; October 5, 6, 7; October 19, 20, 21
These three day sessions are 5:30-9:30 pm., Saturday and Sunday 5-9 pm.

These one-day classes are ONLY for students who take the course on the internet or have taken the home study course. You must bring your internet test or home study test with you. You are required to go through the field exercises and take the written test. We shoot outside so wear warm clothing as prescribed by the weather.

Provided materials:
• All materials
• Guns
• Ammunition
• Eye and Ear Protection.

Students under age 18 need a parent, or guardian’s permission and signature at sign-in. We shoot outside so wear warm clothing as prescribed by the weather.
